Agree. She was smart in catching on to a scam.
In the future start with written, detailed estimates. For HVAC work, get 2-3 estimates because that area is full of shady businesses in my experience.

this landlord was looking at the price difference more than anything else. $3200 vs $4600- $7600. no mention if the guy had a license or was even certified to do the work. if the price was that so much less than other hvac companies, that should have been a red flag itself. what type of install was this guy going to do that would result in a 40-50 percent reduction in price?
