I'm sorry, G, but please reference the state law that declares the landlord can "store them at your place til spring, or get rid of them now."

You're giving advice that's in direct conflict with state laws in how abandoned property is to be handled.

My comments were my OPINIONS, and not based on any particular "law" My OPINIONS come from common sense, general knowledge of laws regarding landlords and tenants, and 35 years of landlording experience. That's what this site is all about------experienced LLs giving OPINIONS of what they would do or what the poster should do in situations posed on this forum. Go back for the last 10 years on this forum, and see how many LLs have actually quoted or referenced state laws. Its about 1%. I'm guessing that my statement of "store them til spring" would meet at least 45 of the states abandonment laws. And all LLs make a determination when they get possession back of a place, as to what is "garbage" to toss immediately, or "store". By the way, HOW DO YOU KNOW my statements are in "direct conflict" with state laws ? I did not see YOU quoting or referencing any laws, either, to prove me wrong. I also did not see YOU posting an answer to the OP. Please do that, so I and other posters may have a chance to critique YOUR answer.

Bad opinions can get a landlord in trouble! Common sense would be to check your State laws before discarding or storing a tenants abandoned stuff.

As to referencing State laws, several Landlords here, do post them so that others can learn the facts themselves, and not rely on misplaced opinions.
