Apparently you decided to not read the State law on 'tenants abandon property'.
To properly dispose of the tenants abandoned property without occurring liability, the landlord is require by law;
Post a written notice in a conspicuous place on the property; and Sent by first-class mail with a certificate of mailing, in an envelope endorsed "Please Forward", addressed and mailed to the tenant at:
(A) The leased property; (B) Any post office box held by the tenant and known to the landlord or housing authority; and (C) The most recent forwarding address if provided by the tenant or known to the landlord or housing authority.
The written notice required shall state that:

Well, Bravo.
Apparently most of us are no scouring the internet and looking up statutes, but thank you for taking the time to do so and share.
When I ask a question on the landlord forum, I am looking for opinions as well as knowledge. I and i'm sure many others do not expect absolute universal legal advice here from a group of landlords all scattered around the country, but will check in for quick answers before doing research or consulting an attorney.
No need to be testy.

Doubtful if anyone even notices your present here on this forum or cares what you're looking for, or when you check in. You are just not that impressive if this was your best response to a post?

And if they don't provide me with a forwarding address or any other address, I should mail it here and rely on the post office to forward it to them?

And do you really expect me to pay for a storage unit for this stuff when I know they're not going to claim it?
How do I avoid wasting that money?

Yes. The state legislatures around the country are the ones who make their state's LL/T laws. They have known for decades that some people don't want to be found (for whatever reason), and don't give their forwarding to anyone (especially people or entities they owe money to.) Yet they know they must provide some kind of reasonable way for LLs to try to communicate with the T, even if he/she can't be found. They have chosen the US postal service as the most reliable entity to do that. By writing letters to someone, of which may end up getting returned to you if they can't be delivered, is an accepted legal way to show a judge in the future that you at least tried to get in touch with the T.
