You should keep them until your State statute of limitation regarding disputes arising out of a contract such as a lease expires. This could be 2 to 6 years or more. This may seem a bit long and troublesome, but if you are sued and do not have your records, anything can and will happen in court. Some people intentionally wait until the Statute of Limitations is almost up, as they know that most people will not have kept the records for this length of time.
