Don't know what state you are in but a phone call is suspicious to me. You should be informed by a letter in the mail.

    Your question about the security deposit is moot right now. You retain it till she moves out. Then you will need to show what you have done with it--(damages and/or unpaid rent). The SD is the least of your worries right now. If she has filed for bankruptcy, she could be living in your unit for several months, paying you no rent, and there may not be much you can do about it. You need to call the "lawyer" back up, tell them you have received no letter, and give him/her your address, and have a certified letter sent to you showing the actual bankruptcy filings. Then you need to contact an attorney about what your rights are regarding the whole situation. Assuming April's rent is already paid, you have not been affected yet, till May rolls around.
