Thanks. Believe it or not, those were actual estimates, and the lowest I received, for moving the items. And those estimates were from handymen. Actual "movers" were MUCH higher. I can't move the items myself, as I'm in my 60s and don't have any help.

I don't want the letter to come off as emotionally fueled. Should I not explain the circumstances? Just write:

cabinets destroyed/removed - $800 to repair?

I really don't want to be ridiculous, and I'm glad you are pointing out appears to be excessive.

What should I do? Moving the refrigerator is one thing, but the woodstove insert weighs 300 pounds!

I think you're right...you probably don't need to have such lengthy explanations for everything. It's a lot of reiterating of "you weren't given permission to do this," which goes without being said. I would shorten the explanations in all the sections.

As far as the moving charges, if those are your circumstances, then yes, you have to pay to get them moved. However, it's your job as a business owner to minimize the expenses to you and your tenants. Do you not have a friend or relative who can assist with pushing a refrigerator? If I was a judge reviewing this case, I would view that as excessive.

The stove absolutely requires professional assistance to move if it's that cumbersome, but $150? Is that for 2 hours of labor? It isn't going to take that long and seems excessive. Just taking a stab at it here, but an initial lift onto a mover's dolly, a lift off the dolly and reattachment to the piping doesn't add up to 2 hours and $150.
