Re: Charge time to security deposti - Landlord Forum thread 344638

The anon is correct. You cannot deduct your TIME to show the place. But you can deduct the loss of rent you incurred like the anon said. You can also deduct any advertising costs you may have incurred, and any utilities that you had to pay between tenants. However, if you actually PAY someone to show the place (not a relative or a friend), then you can deduct that expense-----but you cannot be there at the same time the showing is.

Please cite where this is a proper security deduction according to the OPs state statutes.

Improper handling of a security deposit can be a costly lesson for a landlord.

(P.S. Do not reply that this is your "opinion." You are not presenting this as opinion, but as fact. Back it up.)

Sorry to disappoint you, anon, but all I have ever given on this forum have been my opinions, and that's all I will ever give. If you want facts for/about any thing printed on this forum, please feel free to find them somewhere and print them for all of us to see. Remember---- "everything is true if it's printed on the internet" LOL
