You need to keep contacting the police on a daily basis. If lower officers don't respond, visit the police head quarters, and contact the Chief of Police personally, if need be. See if they have a drug dog they can bring out. You will not be able to get out of your lease, unless you have absolute proof thru the police dept about the drugs. Then you would need to inform the LL, in writing, giving them the info from the police. Give the LL 30 days to take care of the drug problem or you will give them a 30 day notice you are moving out. Remember, if you decide to break your lease early, and you are taken to court by the LL for doing so, you need all the proof you can get, to show there were illegal drugs there , and the LL did nothing about it.

I'd imagine her area is like mine - the police don't have the resources to come out because someone is smoking marijuana in their own home. A drug dog? NEVER going to happen where I live, and I'd guess most jurisdictions.

In my city,(125,000 pop.)LLs can be held accountable for a Ts behavior, if a T gets busted for drugs, that the LL knew about, and did nothing about it. So they encourage the owner or T to call in about it. Then, with the owners permission, the police will bring a drug dog out to smell the common areas of an apartment complex, or just outside only on a SFH rental. If the dogs "hits" on a smell, that gives them probable cause to get a search warrant to go inside.

Wow !! here if they find a small amount (not sure what that is) in your possession, you get the equivalent of a ticket for "disorderly conduct", pay a $100ish fine and are done.
