"I want to make this as painful as possible for them."
You need a reality check or you're going to lose your case.
Here's what you do in court.
You dress well and show up on time. If you are late, you lose. Judges and courts don't like their time wasted.
If the tenant is late, there's a good chance you'll receive a judgement in your favor.
Present your case when asked to. Bring good documentation, including pictures and video if applicable. Stick to the facts.
Do not speak unless you are asked to by the judge. When you speak do not speak to the tenant, speak to the judge. Do not insult the tenant. Do not interrupt the tenant when they are speaking. Do not interrupt the judge. Do not curse, do not get emotional.
You are entitled to your monetary damages, nothing more. You are not entitled to make this painful for anyone. You are a business owner. Handle it professionally.
