Even lawyers need a place to live. What kind of lawyer are they? Someone's profession alone does not make them a problem. If a lawyer acts inappropriately during or after tenancy, they have far more to lose than you do.

Being a landlord is all about knowing the laws that apply to you and your tenants. Handle things professionally and by the book and you have nothing to worry about.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. The only difference between a lawyer and a regular tenant is that the lawyer won't have to hire a lawyer.

I agree with the 3rd anon. Being a lawyer is a profession, a job. As long as he/she checks out OK according to all your criteria, rent to them. And, yes, an attorney has his job at stake, if you ever have to take that person to court for some reason.

I don't agree. Waste your time working with them until you get to the point where they refuse to provide the information you request such as social security number, drivers license, etc, or they re-write your lease for you. You will have wasted your time. This is from personal experience working with such people. If I had such a prospect again I would treat them as any applicant, but ask them if they will have a problem filling out the application completely, or signing my lease as is. They are not above other tenants here just because they practice law.

You just treat them like every applicant. Not sure if you run a credit check? But just take the application, application fees and run the credit check.

If they try to re-write your application or lease. Tell them "thank you for your in-put, I will take that under careful consideration. however, this format has worked for me in the past.
