Then what did that poster mean about cutting it once or twice during the "growing season"? That isn't what it's like where I live.
We have bahia grass here and the seedheads can easily reach a very tall height in a week's mowing time in the summer.

Can you not afford a better type of grass for your lawn. Bahia grass is not a great grass to have for a lawn.
Besides, the post was about NY and Illinois, not Florida.

Well it's very common down here and most people don't re-sod a lawn for a rental property unless it's in a high end area. Better to spend that money on roofs, flooring.

Only those who don't know better plant Bahia grass here in Florida. It's know for producing seed heads over night and frequent mowings among many other short comings. Many places consider it a weed pest and prohibit planting it. It's best use is along road and highways, not lawns.
