Nassau Town of Hempstead desk appearance ticket

I decided to sell my house, which has an apartment upstairs with non=permitted plumbing for the sink, I added a high voltage outlet for a washer/dryer which I'm not sure if it's a violation or not, and made it an aparment in violation of the town code.
The upstairs tenants tried to shake me down for $5000 and when I wouldn't pay, called the building department and let them in. They saw a room with a fridge, a high voltage outlet with no appliance connected, and plumbing coming out of the wall as if there had been a sink but there was none at the time. The tenant also said whatever he had to say.
Now I have three desk apperance tickets. Did I mention I'm trying to sell the place?
I should mention that I pay taxes on every penny I earn from the house so I have no worries in that regard.
What kind of laywer do I get? A contruction lawyer? any words of wisdom? I live out of state and have no plans to move back to ny ever.

Depending on time till court. Boot the tenant out, cut out the added on plumbing and remove electrical run. Taking pictures along the way. And respond in court you did not know it was illegal until it was brought to your attention and now you corrected it. You may get slapped with some fines. Or call in a plumbing and electrical inspector and get an after the fact inspection. It will cost double the normal fee for the inspection. But if everything is to code and the inspector signs off. You have minimized the issue.
