Well the difference is the inspector is not in the position to enforce the law or impose a fine, the prosecutor and the judge will be the deciding voice. Doubtful you will walk away without some sort of fine. Yea, I' really so happy for you???

Oh, with a desk appearance ticket, it will appear as an arrest on your record.

Sorry to disappoint you but it's a violation. Again, a violation is not a crime. A crime is either a misdemeanor or a felony.
