What are my rights? According Texas Hotel laws - Landlord Forum thread 349409

What are my rights? According Texas Hotel laws by Risha H. (TX) on November 25, 2016 @14:06

I'm a single mother of 3 kids, one is a special needs child, and I have mental and health issues; rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and I suffer with bipolar depression. I've been staying at a hotel since October 4th. I receive mail here. The hotel has no access to my room because I keep the 'do not enter' sign on my door because the housekeepers do not clean. I was told that a housekeeper was taking pictures of my personal property without my consent. An incident happen on November 20th with my daughter and one of the housekeepers. On the 24th, thanksgiving, which is when I pay my weekly fee, I get a call from the clerk at 9:48 am saying she couldn't renew my week and that we had to leave. About 1pm, she finally told me that because of the incident that happened on the 20th, the housekeeper felt threatened. Now, mind you, I have rheumatoid arthritis in my left foot with screws and I walk with a limp. The housekeeper in question passed by me on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as with the manager. If she felt so threatened, why wasn't the police called? Why didn't she file charges? How can a woman that walks with a limp make anyone feel threatened? What are my rights? According to the Texas Hotel laws, the innkeeper is supposed to give me a reasonable notice, which wasn't done, they were not upfront and direct about anything, daily rates would change without knowledge, I've been here over a month, which entitles me to the landlord/tenant state law rules. What are my chances? How can I prove the hotel wrong? How can I get treated fairly? Thanks!

Hotels are NOT bound by the laws that rental properties must adhere to.

Yes,my hey can decide ...even for no reason...to stop allowing you to be a guest there. Especially if they feel your (or daughter) behavior is out of line...yes, they can refuse to allow you to remain a guest.

You have no lease. You do not even have an implied lease like a person renting an apartment would have.

If you want the protection of the state law concerning tenants...then you have to BE a tenant. Right now you are a hotel guest...nothing more.
