Responding to remarks by Randi and (my least favorite) poster, anonymous.
I agree w/Randi re: how the article could re-titled - "10 Dumb Questions that Landlords Might Ask to get themselves into trouble. "
This then takes me to Anonymous' reference to "unintentional discrimination." You can ask those questions and not discriminate but, as Randi pointed out, you can still get yourself into trouble. I can ask where someone is from and then turn them down for other reasons (credit score, income, references). You may not be actually discriminating but it can look as though you are.

That is what I was saying, and then someone here accused me of insulting people.
There is really no reason to be asking them anything personal in the first place. "What race are you?" LOL. Who asks questions like that?
