Treat the situation as an unauthorized squatter. Call the local police department and report an unwanted subject that needs to be removed.....

Re: UNAUTHORIZED ROOMMATE by Michele (NY) on March 3, 2017 @16:49 [ Reply ]
Seven months ago my boyfriend let this guy stay a few nights in our apartment as a guest but when he learned that the room he was sleeping in might be available to rent he said he would be "up for" renting the room from us. The only thing this guy was "up" for was using our place to conduct an endless array of illegal activities (such as computer credit card fraud (using our IP address & both our cellphones.) Even defrauding our neighborhood vendors out of hundreds if not thousands of dollars by ordering goods and services to our address in our names, using stolen credit card profiles thus implicating us. Additionally we learned that while we were at work he dealt drugs from our apt. I could go on..We told him that he was not welcome in our home & that he must leave. A few days later we found that he had sneeked past the building security and was in fact passed out in the old room where he had been staying. We later would find out that while we slept, he stole several of our possessions as well as the key to the apartment.WE SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE but we were not in the habit of doing so, one did not waste their time, one only called in case of emergency. One didn't call the police on a former "friend" also because we were ignorant of the scope of his deceipt and betrayal. Anyway we decided no to call security and thought the whole thing was over..We didn't know have a ready apartment to move to. Not that he was in fact DESPERATE with NOTHING to lose and NOWHERE to go. Because NOBODY wanted him in their apartment either. Not even the guy that laid him upon us in the first place. We were to learn later that he has stolen from everyone in his circle.Apparentlly he had stolen from everyone stolen off of our key ring while we slept. Imagine my horror when he showed up with two (by this time extremely biased police officers) who apparently gotten an ear-full because they let us say one or two sentences on our own behalf before they were threatening to "arrest us." The officer told him to go check to see if we had changed the locks and he let him go up to our apartment (unescorted) to see if we had. Again, threatening to arrest us..it was too much for me..after all of the trouble this guy had caused us. We were ONLY nice to him. He had nothing but a change of clothes and we gave him everything..a warm bed, food, loaned him money let him be part of our family of friends threw a birthday party for him...This guy was now breaking into our home (AGAIN) only this time with the help of the NYPD. We were the victems here! and said he would arrest us if he came back saying the locks were changed. It was then that the officer said he would arrest us if it were true. through he showed up at our apartment with the police saying that he was a roommate and we had illegally changed the locks. He must have given them an ear-full because when he arrived with the officers (who looked like the apartment complex security - not NYPD) they would not let speak on our own behalf. It was my worst fears realized, he was using the police to break into our apartment, AGAIN! This nightmare would go on..it was playing out before my eyes..earlier in the week he threaten me via email that he would get back into our apartment..and that it would be "legal" this was all part of a multi-level plan..he covertly mouthed these words to me with a big smile on his face he said.."I told you.." it was at this point that I lost control and I walked up to him and put my finger in his face and said, "This isn't right!" to which he responded "too bad." it was then that I sort of slapped him, I was told I "hit" him. And the black eye that he was in possession of was because of me. But in fact he was already sportin' around that black eye when the boyfriend of his former best friend hit him three days prior when he was caught red-handed stealing $300 out of her purse. But I was being blamed for this as well. He got an ORDER of PROTECTION against me and has been living it up in my apartment ever since. He is actively trying to provoke my boyfriend into any kind of incident where he can take out one against my boyfriend as well. Therefore he steals EVERYTHING that isn't nailed down. Invites whomever he wants into the apartment...eats anything he wants out of our fridge, steal my clothes and sells them, does drugs (and sells) them out of our apartment...HELP!! WHAT DO WE DO....??? The story goes on from there..we had a very bad lawyer and the case was DISMISSED after 5 months on a technicality and now we were informed that we have to start all over again...!!! Help!
