Your father needs to be the one informing the tenants regarding who will be collecting the rent. Preferably in writing.

And I recommend that when new tenants are installed that the written agreement specify how the landlord needs to receive the rent. We now use a PO Box so tenants are no longer showing up at my front door.

Thanks to all respondents. Good food for thought, in particular the PO Box and notification in writing from my father...although he voices concerns, HE still wants to be the one in CONTROL.

Another thought. I also do not want tenants showing up at my door and make it clear (when they are originally rentingand signing the lease)that they are to mail the rent to me. I just tell them I charge more rent if they want to pay in person. Now, you have a different situation with a long term, good, tenant. Good luck.
