It's not reasonable to require payment by money order. You don't need a checking account to get a money order. I would be very concerned about my elderly father walking around with large amounts of cash on hand, regardless of neighborhood.

Having people show up at his door with cash is not safe to me. Unless you plan on collecting rent yourself, I would continue to ask people to pay mail from here on out. The safety and security of my father would be my number 1 concern.

Too many people plotting these days for situation just like this. Money order payment via mail is the safest bet in my opinion.

Hopefully your tenants have advocates on their behalf as you are your father. It only takes the wrong person to find out about large amounts of cash being carried on schedule bases to tempt the wrong person. Good luck.

I meant to stat it was NOT unreasonable to require payment by money order..sorry
