Accepting tenants with pets

I hear so much about therapy animals. Can I have a straight across the board NO PETS rule?
One property is a rooming house and people have allergies.

You can have a no pets rule, but therapy animals are not considered pets under fair housing. That means if the tenant is disabled and has need of a therapy animal, you must accommodate. Having allergies is not a protected class and is not a legal defense to deny someone that needs a therapy animal.
