Re: Hostile forum bullies - Landlord Forum thread 351647

Re: Hostile forum bullies by P-Bone (NY and OH) on April 14, 2017 @09:07

I have been on and off this forum for over 10 years and I agree with Jack. Honestly, after reading a lot of the posts people have issue with, I tend to agree with the poster people seem to hate, more than 50% of the time. I think the posts are an opinion of experiences and thoughts on the subject matter, but that's what everyone's posts are. They are opinions of the subject, comments on legality, interpretations of law, and sharing of experiences. None of which should every be taken as "legal advice" but rather a sharing of opinions, research, or other matters.

No one should be bullied even if you don't agree with a post, but please, if you don't agree, I request you take the time to provide the sources for your concern with the advice. Everyone's experiences in each little situation can be vastly different. The more we know about the resources available on line and the types of situations encountered, approached, and the ultimate results, the better we can be prepared for the uncertainties.

The difference, P-Bone, is that while posters like you, KatieKate, and others post your opinions, experiences, and information, you do it without lecturing people, condescending to them, or going off on tirades with people that don't agree with you.

Unfortunately, very few people are going to be able to look past the way G delivers his message...the message is lost in his attitude.

    Anonymous,
some people feel they are being lectured to and get personally offended.
I may have just offended you by telling you that.

That happens when I try to give helpful advice to my children. A few tips here and there are seen as an attack and a "lecture" when I'm just saying something as simple as
"You might want to wear a belt because your pants are falling down"

One suggestion was to do away with "Anonymous" and require a real registration for the forum with real names. It s a proven fact that people who use their real names behave better and aren't as brazen.

I have to say, you are a very poor moderator, after reading your nonsense response to anonymous! The post provided are not just lectures or simple advice, but are vicious attacks by a bully. It appears your either condone such behavior or you enjoy the bullying? I cannot believe you had the audacity to tactlessly point someone out publicly on the forum as you alluded to, if you're a moderator! That is bad moderation and ultimately will lead to the demise of the forum. Moderators ought to use as much discretion as possible and not makes rude comments and accusations.

Everyone has a different way of communicating, much like Steve stated. If it offends you, move on, don't pay any attention to it. It's when you let it bother you that it becomes a problem. There's billions of sites on the internet and I'm sure there's something that offends everyone, but everyone doesn't go looking for it and letting it fester. Life's too short to worry about someone's opinion coming off like a lecture.

Again, honestly, I'd applaud a reaction from the rest of the forum that turns responds to a "lecture" with constructive advice to either support the point, or provide another point, so long as it's more information that could be useful to a reader.
