No one here can tell you whether or not to consult a lawyer. Only you can decide if it's worth the fight. If nothing else, I would at least ask to be reimbursed for any expenses you incurred due to the situation.

I would state some of the things to corporate (in writing) directly to the name/address of the person who spoke to you on the phone. About the fact they shouldn't have advertized then. The fact that you had planned to move the reasons you would looking to move to that other unit - it's bigger or whatever your reasons. How it has caused you a hardship. You are willing to stay where you are at and understand that this was a error on their part and are requesting a x amount of discount on your upcoming lease. They don't want to go to court & you don't want to go to court. A letter may do something.
