Running Extension Cord through windows by New LL (VA-Virginia) on December 31, 2017 @17:35

When I delivered Faucet cover to my single family rental house to my Tenants, I noticed my Tenant was running Extension Cords through windows to light bulbs for Christmas season.

National Electrical Code (NEC) does not suggest "running extension cord through openings like windows.

I not yet mention a single word "safety concern" to my Tenant; while my Tenant has explained my checking on window as " peaking through the window ". What should and/or can I do?

I had particularly communicated with Tenant with the following 2 points. But Tenant did not correct but complain more other things.

(1) Wasn't this getting higher utility bill by opening window for Extension Cord?

(2) Was it safe before Extension Cord became a Fire Hazard?

Can T sue L for " peaking through the window " for this case (L was outside the house, looking at 2 particular Windows where Extension Cords running through to figure out what was done by T.)

Some homes donít have outdoor receptacles, so people run the extension cords for their decorating lights through a door or out the window.

okay - third post about this issue.

Again, forget it and move on. Christmas lights should be down. you shouldn't worry about their utility charges. if you were concerned with leaves in the yard that should have been addressed a month ago. Etc. Etc.

all water under the bridge for minor issues that have apparently been blown up.

"Never use indoor extension cords outdoors."

When Extension cords and wires lying on the ground, they can trap people and become short during the snow or in rain to execute livelihoods.
