My name on eviction- I don't live there - Landlord Forum thread 356110

My name on eviction- I don't live there by Edgar on February 9, 2018 @18:00

Hello,

My parents are getting evicted from their home and my name is on the eviction notice and writ of possession.

I have not lived with my parents in over 4 years, is there anything I can do to prevent this from affecting my personal records? Can I collect damages?

Had you lived with your parents at the rental in question at any point in the past?

If you had, I can see why the landlord would include your name in the eviction. Evictions must include all tenants and occupants or it's not a proper eviction.

This leads to the following question - does the former landlord KNOW you no longer live there? Before you worry about lawyers and damages, why don't you give the former landlord a call and let him know the situation.

If nothing comes of that, you should consult with a lawyer.
