Ridding dog smell by Josiah (CA) on May 31, 2018 @17:39

Hi so a couple I evicted for bringing in dogs when none were allowed left a terrible smell in one of my units. It'd be great if someone could tell me all the possible ways to clean and remove the smell. Their dogs smelled like they hadn't ever been washed and even when I walk by the unit I can smell a combination of that and urine and fecal matter smell mixed with the floor boards. Goes with out question the boards will be replaced but I want to clean everything. I've tried everything possible for cat urine in the past and nothing worked for me but to remove tile. Any help would be appreciated.

After the floor boards are removed, seal the subfloor with Kilz.

Kill is great stuff. I prefer the oil based product if you can find it as I think it seals better. Possibly also odor is in the wall paint similar to the way smokers smoke gets onto and into paint. Try repainting if necessary or a good washdown with Lysol if not. A commercial ozone generator might also be helpfull. As A last resort try those commercial hazmat clean up companies.......they've been there and done that.

I wouldn't use Pine-Sol or Lysol. The odor of those cleaners combined with dog smell is horrible.
