Yes...you can deduct unpaid rent from the deposit in NY

You can take them to small claims for unpaid moneys owed

You cannot report to the credit bureaus directly...but, after you win in small claims... if they do not pay , you can get the county court clerk to report it to the credit bureaus

there is a way to report to credit bureaus if you set it up to where tenant wants their rent payment history to count toward ontime payments reported to credit bureaus.
