My accountant pointed out that any work that I would do on a rental property, such as mowing the lawn or re-keying a lock gets counted as a deposit to the IRA and would likely invalidate the investment. This is a hands-off investment vehicle! search real estate self-directed ira site:wsj.com https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/where-we-live/wp/2016/02/29/even-with-risks-more-investors-are-giving-self-directed-iras-a-closer-look/?utm_term=.18c70a235a8d https://www.journalofaccountancy.com/issues/2013/oct/20137626.html
