What type of carpet do you guys use? - Landlord Forum thread 358390

What type of carpet do you guys use? by John on August 9, 2018 @10:18

I'm getting the carpet replaced. In all the bedrooms, basement and two sets of stairs. The last time I made the mistake of getting a "closed-loop" type carpet in a berber. I didn't realize but when it gets "caught" on lets say a dog nail or a piece of furniture it wants to unravel like a sweater.

So while at Home Depot they wanted to sell me on a what they like to call "Rental Property Carpet" at $1.21 a sqft called "Alpine" by TrafficMaster

That puts my carpet replacement for much of the house (3br, 2 sets of stairs and the basement) at around $1,900. I'm just asking other renters is this normal. I usually would have thought to get in-stock carpet at around 1.00 or even less per sq foot. Knowing I would have to replace it every few years anyway...

I dont use carpet. Took out all carpet in rentals. Not cost effective and collects so much dust mite and other bacteria.

I use alternative flooring in rentals.
