Jail for Mass. Landlords? by dlym@rcn.com on March 19, 2020 @13:34

I just got an email from Mass Landlords that there is a bill in Massachusetts that, if passed, would JAIL LANDLORDS just for telling their tenants to pay their rent during this time. Please see the link below.

Just to follow up, I contacted my state rep and senator. The rep said the legislators who are supporting/co-supporting this bill mostly have no awareness of its details. Neither my rep nor my senator is co-sponsoring.

I am shocked and angry that language like this was even included in the first place.

My Apartment association has been warning us about this type of conduct for many years. The politicians are salivating at the opportunity to tap into the Property owners financial gains to recover from their legislative failures in rent control.

Stuff like this is ridiculous. These people need to be voted out of office.

Like they would include that landlords dont have to pay their mortgages? fat chance...

I'm confused. I just read the proposed bill and I didn't see anywhere anything where a landlord could be sent to jail for telling their tenants to pay their rent. Can you guide me to where that is?
