W-9 for Tenants and other Tax question - Landlord Forum thread 360456

W-9 for Tenants and other Tax question by Daniel (CA) on May 4, 2020 @05:44

Is it appropriate to request tenants to fill out a W-9?
What about filling out a 1099 for rent subsidies that you give them, ESPECIALLY , during this rent free period in California

Sorry the Govt just sees you as receiving less rental income so you will pay less in taxes.

You didnt give them anything, you just got less.

Go Bitch to your commie governor for screwing you. Who said renters dont have to pay rent? Source? There is talk of a rent strike, but even with that rent is due. How the F are you suppose to pay your mortgage with no income? Go to you bank now and arrange/demand delayed payments.

Be prepared to evict all your non paying tenants when this is over. Have them sign contracts saying they still owe the rent if they dont pay and set them up on a ~12 month repayment plan if you wish.
