I think you are getting in over your head on this, and you're opening up a can of worms you really don't want to open. It appears that your tenant is part of a "Tenants Union" and they want to send you a "legal paper". That tells me they may have a lawyer possibly representing them. Is this REALLY where you want to go with this "feud" ? Your refusing to give out your address for them to send you a letter, did not help you AT ALL. By delving into public records in your state and county, your T can easily find out where you actually live.

Before things get out of hand, and even if you feel you are 110% in the right on this, nip it in the bud NOW, by paying the bill off completely. Remember, this was an ACCIDENT with the knife getting stuck in the disposal, not a deliberate act of vandalism. For what it's worth, after reading your post, I DO AGREE with you------that the T should pay the bill. BUT------with both parties escalating this "feud", my suggestion is for you to STEP UP AND BE THE BIGGER PERSON that I know you can be, pay the bill yourself, and END THE FEUD NOW!
