Yes, it is a long time - I've had a few in the times I been LL 5 yrs. 2018/2019 she brought in another dog (had 2) brought in a puppy a relation as sick & she was keeping it a couple days a wk & would be temp. I found out that after 6 month still there - they were building a tall fence (already had a short fence for short dogs. That was it.told her we understood how she might want to move, but no extra dog. Dog left. In Jan. 2021 called & said her kids had bought her a lab puppy and would pay extra security deposit. I said no. I suppose she may have stayed longer - not sure.
In the process of cleaning now.

A little respect goes a long way. I believe you made the correct decision. Dogs and cats are NOT gifts. They are COMMITMENTS. And if you buy your parent a dog or cat as a gift WITHOUT consulting with the Landlord, they're morons. Good job standing your ground.
