Tenant applications per privacy act - Landlord Forum thread 361854

Tenant applications per privacy act by Tracy on April 3, 2022 @13:35

After going through lots of time of miscalculation of owner statement and other issues with the property management, I gave 30 days notice to the property management.
I requested the entire files of the tenants ( the found the tenants for me and I paid 50% of first month rent as commission).
They said that they won't give me the tenants applications to me because California privacy act ( but they will provide the tenant leases). Is this right? I don't see it in the contract with them that they will wild hold this information to me when I no longer have contact with them (prop mgmt). What is my next steps? I believe I entitled of the tenant application as I as the landlord hired them to find the tenant and paid them the finding fee. Please advise. Thank you.
