Dear Mr. Reno:
I recently evicted some tenants for non-payment of rent and they were immediately evicted from the property by court order. I then tried to seek monetary judgment and the judgment was awarded to the defendants instead. I do not know what happened there. is this normal?

A: Sometimes it gets separated because the courts don't hear money judgment claims unless the people are present in court or were personally served. The parties sometimes later appear in small claims court to settle money claims. (I don't know why you lost- I wasn't there.)
