Re: Cracked toilet tank - Landlord Forum thread 225960

Re: Cracked toilet tank by Jack (NY) on June 15, 2011 @07:21

I have one that has a crack running through it.
A tenant called to complain about it, but it is a hairline crack that was easy for me to overlook. It has been a few years and has not leaked. To me it looks like it may only be in the finish, but it runs across the whole toilet bowl.
I asked the tenant to keep an eye on it and I'll replace it if anything changes.

Maybe the tenant will be on vacation and it will leak for a week. For $100 or less it can be replaced. Cheap insurance.

I'm no landlord, but a homeowner; meaning no reason to make this up. My toilet tank cracked all the way up a few days ago all on its own. No one hit it, sat on it, or was even close to it. Thankfully we were in the house and heard it.
What I'm trying to say is that , here the tenants are being blamed, and it probably wasn't.
