9 people living in a 5Br apt,Can you deny Renewal - Landlord Forum thread 323040

9 people living in a 5Br apt,Can you deny Renewal by Anonymous on August 18, 2014 @17:13

My tenant when started renting had 6 kids .Now, another kid is part of the family. Total in the lease 8 people and the father of the last child who is not in the lease also lives in apt. They are destroying apt and I do not want to renew the lease .The lease expire January 2015 and I am planning to send a letter to Section 8.
The tenant does not want to move How do I go about this?
Can I on my own try to go to court and resolve this problem or Do I need an attorney to proceed? I do not want to renew the lease.

Then do not renew and send a notice to vacate. Section 8 will cease paying for their future places if they do not vacate and you report them.

The man who fathered the last child is not on the lease? Then call the reporting hotline for the Section 8 administrator and report the fraud -- having unauthorized occupants in a Section 8 rental will get the participant booted off the program.
