The police have better things to do than deal with family issues. They will have nothing to do with this...it is not tresspassing. She lives there.

You're right, she does live there, because her son allows her too. This can be terminated at any time if he chooses. She has no legal protection if she isn't on the lease. And I agree police have better things to do but this is what they seem to deal with at the end of the day.

Its never up to the police to determine who is and who is not on the lease. As far as you know here the mother could be a tenant due to the actions or nonactions of the landlord. If the police decide who is and who is not a tenant, I hope they have a good attorney, as no officer has the authority to remove a tenant under such circumstances. That is left to the court system. Also a police officer does not interpet the law. Thats what a Judge and JUry is for.

This isn't the right forum to discuss this so I will end it here. You're adding and subtracting from my point to make yours. Its called "routine police work", or in other words investigations. I never said police just play rock, paper, sissors to see who goes and who stays. By your logic a friend of mine could come over, stay for a week, give me 20 dollars for the electric bill, refuse to leave, then when I call the police claim he is on the deed and he owns the house, and the police will simply shrug their shoulders and leave. Sorry but that doesn't make any sense, same goes for a renter situation. When police remove someone it has nothing to do if your a tenant or not, not even sure where you are getting that from. The son could easily show a copy of his lease and the situation would be squashed. But as I said not the place for this discussion. Was fun but I will end it here. Point: Call the police tell them to get your bum mother out of the house. Situation resolved. Or call your landlord and tell him/her how you're violating the lease and have been for months now. That way all 4 of you can get kicked out, have an eviction on your record, and never be able to rent ever again. good luck
