Adding a New one to the Do not rent to List

Frequently it is mentioned to be careful renting to attorneys, Sec 8, judgement proof income, etc...
I'm adding a new one to my list... The applicant that claims or brags "I'm a handyman!" 2.5 years ago I ignored this man, thought he was a blow hard. He and wife told how he use to work as a handyman for XYZ Apts. How other LLs loved how he fixed things. I ignored most it, because my lease states No unauthorized repairs, blah blah, blah. I go over and have tenants initial that paragraph.
OMG, I just did my move-out inspection. All I can say it is really sad that a school-teacher is a better "handywoman" and does better work then this self proclaimed handyman.
I am aggravated and hubby is furious...Why didn't they call and allow us to do our job as LLs, instead of the BS he did. What a mess.
So my new rule is the next time I hear "I'm a handyman". I am going to misplace the phone number, accidently delete the email and lose their application!

I am a Christian but I won't rent to someone who talks about being a Christian during the showing application process. When it comes time to paying the rent they always leave it to the Lord! No, I need someone who will take personal responsibility.
Still I love Christians but I don't care to rent to someone who feels the need to talk about it in a business transaction.

Sorry to hear that Shaun...
I don't trust anyone who carries on about how handy they are...I would rather have someone clueless who calls me all the time than someone who decides they own the house, they do their own repairs, and do things the wrong way.
