We purchased a home that had smokers in it. Actually, when we looked at the house I didn't notice the smell that bad -- I guess I just fell in love with the place and blocked everything out. After it was purchased and walked in ech... It took lots of cleaning (scrubbing), painting the walls, getting rid of the curtains & carpets (those things really hold the smell. We finally got rid of the smell, but it took work.
