Just ask them to send another check...as for the money order, ask them to send the receipt to you. With that, you can go file for a replacement. If it is lost, it takes a couple weeks to get it replaced (by post office).
If they don't have the receipt..then you are being fed a stalling line.
Ask that they send this immediately, and if they are feeling unsure about the mail..send it certified.

Oh I love this answer and asking for the receipt right this moment. Then you will see the date it was indeed issued I would drive over to pick it up and have a P/Q in my hand if they could not produce the receipt and or if it is not dated 4 days prior to the rent due date you have your answer!
My guess is they did not mail it. Better start gearing up to move forward. I hope I am wrong, 1 in a million chance!
