The moving company is in communication with the police who are handling it.

Unfortunately with a value of only a couple thousand dollars, they aren't exactly moving heaven and earth to get this taken care of. At this point, the word from the moving company that the appliances will be delivered and set up at no charge within 2 weeks is good enough for me. I can show the unit with pictures of the appliances if potential tenants want to see it that badly in the next couple weeks.

In most states, "only a couple thousand dollars" is considered grand theft and is classified as a felony crime. Nonetheless, and most important, the appliances will be returned and the tenants should be sued for an additional months rental for the inconvenience ... (inability to re-rent the premises without appliances).
