Getting a little annoyed - Landlord Forum thread 273046

Getting a little annoyed by Juan (MS) on December 28, 2012 @18:38

I'm starting to get irritated with all the lectures, folks. I didn't ask whether I should move out or not, and yet so many of you keep telling me that I have to move. It's not happening, I'm not moving until the semester is over. Why would I move, when I'll just have to move again 3 months later? That's crazy.

All I need to know from you guys is, what techniques are there to delay the process, to buy time? Because I have to find a way to stay for another 3 months. Surely there are ways to tie it up in court, etc. I've been going back and looking at the lease, to try and find ways she has violated the lease in the past, and I think I found one! One time she took too long to fix a leaking sink drain, she took a week instead of the 3 days provided in the lease. That was about a year ago, but I was thinking...would that work to get me more time, perhaps if I explained all that to the judge?

Please help me think of ways to draw this out, and if you are just going to berate me and call me a criminal or other names, then please just keep that to yourself. Thank you.

Please leave this forum. We are NOT GOING TO HELP YOU ILLEGALLY STAY IN A PLACE YOU ARE LEGALLY BEING TOLD TO MOVE!

Your sink was fixed. A couple of extra days do not translate into extra months. If you had a grievance than you should have expressed it A YEAR AGO. At best, you would have gotten a couple of dollars of rent back. A judge will not allow you to stay.

You have been given notice.

Your choice now is to either leave when you are being told to or being removed by force by the police. Those are your only two options. A judge will not not listen to anything else.

Do you REALLY think you can stay until you want to leave? You can buy a couple weeks until the police come and throw you out. You can't stay. The police won't let you. Do you really want to be handcuffed and forceably removed? Then you'll really be out on the streets. But... That's your choice now.

On the off chance this is not a troll. If you stay and graduate you will not be able to get a job because you will have an eviction on your record and a big ding in your credit score. You will not be able to rent from a good landlord and will have to stay with your parents for the next 7-10 years. You will not be able to get financing on a car without paying 10%+ in interest.

Just couch surf for a few months or stay in a weekly motel. There might be a room available for sublet. Check craigslist. It's not worth ruining your life over.

Hey everyone who responded to your post were possibly uninformeds. You didn't ask for their opinion, just for technics to avoid evictions. Not one person did that. I am sorry that people want to judge or inforce their will upon you. I only wish I had the answer myself. Take care,

Terry
