He posted a notice to the house stating that if were not out by September 28th he would evict. So I moved. I can't make it any simpler- he told me I had to go.Why would I notify him?

sorry, you're wrong. Lots of people don't go when they're told to. The landlord can't read your mind so he's protecting himself legally. a simple phone call and 5 minute meeting would have eliminated this ... and you're going to lose ... the magistrate will rule against you since you didn't notify the landlord you were out.

actually, if you don't show up and sign something giving the landlord possession, he's going to send the constable to post the empty property and then schedule the "lockout" ... that's the legal process. The magistrate is going to find against you monetarily for whatever the landlord is asking ... unless you show up at the hearing with your "defense". You also are going to be paying the costs so if you are as poor as you claim, it's in your best interests to get in touch with the landlord and get this finalized now before any further costs are expended ... because you're paying them.
