Yes, I will be changing it so it specifies the garage. To me, it seems it would/should include it, but since it had never been an issue before I didn't give it any thought. Not that it has come up, I will be sure to spell out that the garage is included it that rule. I will also probably start asking people if they smoke or even just assume they do and ask where they do currently...like I have seen mentioned with pets...asking what kind of pet do you have rather than do you have pets.

I grew up with both parents smoking in the house and have always been able to detect the smell and been bothered by it, makes me pretty surprised that I didn't notice it during the pre-move-out. I'd say it has been going on through out the tenancy based on the pile of butts out the garage's back door. I think the unfinished wood of the rafters will be the hardest part to get the smoke out of.

Lesson learned here for sure.
