I'm unclear what you mean when you said the AC isn't cold on Friday and it happened sometime after he came home on Wednesday. You might want to explain what you mean better. If the AC stopped working on Wednesday and he only reported it on Friday, I wouldn't abate rent or compensate him in any way -- if it was okay to live with for 2 days, he could have managed the weekend just fine until you could get a workman out on Monday.
