Why does this keep coming up? You seem to want to have your rent be lower than you think it should be, and then complain about the applicants.

Does your state allow you to collect double security? Are you going to collect double security from ALL applicants? Be careful you don't unintentionally discriminate against an applicant. Your rental criteria should be clearly spelled out in your application and applied equally to everyone who applies.

    The double of what renter is currently paying comes up because
    I think it could be a hardship on many people if their monthly rent doubled.
    Plus a larger space would mean they will pay more for utilities.
