The last thing I want to do is invade a tenant's privacy. I contacted this board for advice for that very reason. I have numerous tenants & rental properites and have been a, landlord for over 30 years. Never have I seen anything like this! I don't want to be overbearing, but I also don't want to ignore a potential problem up front. I do not believe that any reasonable person would believe that leaving trash & debris from 50+ moving boxes & discarded belonging scattered from one end of a property (SHARED property with another tenant) out onto the front lawn & street for days, now weeks is "VERY HIGH expectations" I find it irresponsible and disrespectful. The interior is in a similar state, but it is not out in the weather or an eyesore to other tenants & neighbors, but does pose a fire hazard by blocking doors, passageways & boxes on a cooktop. I CERTAINLY understand it takes time to unpack and that some box will never get unpacked but it should also be done safely. I think as a landlord we are obligated to maintain some sort of health & safety standards, but not intrude into someone's privacy. That is, what I meant by 'fine line." Again, I understand a few boxes here and there, but not to the point where you can't move around, cook or open doors. Well, I appreciate the constructive criticism and will take everyones input to consideration in dealing with this tenant. Thank you.
