Hello. In Rhode Island, the demand letter just needs to be mailed to the tenant by regular first class mail. There is no need to tack a copy to the door. However, make sure you keep a copy of the demand notice. If you have to file an eviction case, a copy of the notice must be attached to the complaint that gets filed with the court.
