I agree that the LL took advantage of the situation, thought the property was good enough to show. I suspect that LL was trying to get a jump on showing and probably won't collect or rent it until May. I believe the Tenant should have rec'd some of the rent back, but don't anticipate that.
Tenant - make sure you have a memo to yourself with dates & times and conversations you had with LL when moving out. I personally think LL will try to find reasons to keep Security Deposit.
I'm not very trusting :)
