In my state, you'd be required to set them up in a comparable hotel room while the work is being completed. This will vary by locale, but depending on your market, a $125 per day fee would be the expectation, so no less than $2500. Regardless of what the rent is.

And if I were those tenants, I would sue the OP for 3x rent minimum.
