Re: Smoke & Carbon Alarms - Landlord Forum thread 357305

I usually put one on each wall of a room. Usually four per room. Some people find this a bit excessive, but I don't want to be sued for any kind of safety violation should a fire or carbon monoxide event occur. I've never been sued and I don't ever want to be. The batteries seem to never die at the same time. I spend six hours changing the batteries throughout and I always seem to get ONE that will die before the rest. This causes the others to chirp which is very annoying. So rather than hunt down the one culprit, I'll just spend another six hours and replace all of the batteries again. I'm thinking about getting away from rechargable batteries because of this, but I don't want to buy new batteries every time one of them chirp.
